DOLE office skeds seminar for drivers

- Karen S. Vicentillo -

CEBU, Philippines – Due the successive road accidents that happened in Cebu recently, the Occupational Safety and Health Center of Department of Labor and Employment will be holding a seminar on occupational and health safety of the workers specifically the drivers of different transport companies.

OSHC, the champion of the cause of work safety and health in the Philippines, spearheads the ZERO Accident Program (ZAP) of DOLE. ZAP uses a multi-pronged approach to the problems of safety and health at work. The DOLE regional offices integrate the ZAP in the regions in partnership with OSHC.

Yesterday, the OSHC-7 celebrated its second anniversary with the theme: "Hini-usang kusog ngadto sa himsug nga mamumu-o."

OSHC officials said that since Cebu is expansively progressing, there is need to discuss with utmost concern the prevention of injuries on workers, diseases and the workers' safety, which are the primary reason why they will conduct a seminar with the drivers of different transport groups here. The date and venue of the seminar has not been set yet.

"Di lang ang mga buses ang tagaan ug pagtagad sa mga aksidente, apil pud ang mga jeepneys ug ubang transports nga labing hatagan ug dakong pag tagad para sa ilang occupational ug health safety ug ang safety sa mga pasahero," said Dr. Maria Teresita Gucueco, OIC Executive Director of OSHC.
