No table for Lollipop in Mandaue City council?

- Mitchelle L. Palaubsanon -

CEBU, Philippines - Neophyte councilor Emmarie Dolores “Lollipop” Ouano-Dizon is complaining that she was allegedly not given an office table in the administration dominated Mandaue City Council.

Dizon, who belongs to the opposition camp, believes that this could be a harassment and “political vendetta.”

"Kung di ko mahatagan og lamesa sa SP, adto na lang ko mag opisina sa session hall," Ouano-Dizon said in jest.

Vice Mayor Glenn Bercede immediately denied being "vindictive" to Dizon whose family has ruled over Mandaue City for a long period of time.

He likewise denied Dizon’s impression that she was not given the needed furniture like an office table.

"Di intawon na tinuod. Tanang mga konsehal wala pa na sila ma arrange kung asa sila dapit molingkod. But I assure them that by Monday, mahusay ning problemaha," Bercede told The Freeman.

Ouano-Dizon said she was alarmed that she was not provided with a table at the Sangguniang Panlungsod office where Bercede sits as presiding officer.

Bercede said that last Thursday and Friday he was not able to immediately attend to the concern of Ouano-Dizon's secretary because he was busy attending courtesy calls.

"Ako lang ning klaruhon nga wala ni pamolitika kay humana ang election. The SP office belongs to the city councilors, so silang tanan naa gyud nay lamesa. Di na mahimo ug wa," Bercede said.

Bercede and Ouano-Dizon are relatives as the former’s mother, Didith, is an Ouano. Ouano-Dizon is the eldest daughter of former Mandaue City mayor Thadeo Ouano, who is now elected as provincial board member, and granddaughter of another former mayor and the Ouano patriarch, Alfredo Ouano.  – THE FREEMAN
