Agreement signed for Barangay Apas' water supply

- Mitchelle L. Palaubsanon -

CEBU, Philippines - Bulk water supplier Abejo Builders Corporation (ABC) yesterday signed a joint venture agreement with the Metropolitan Cebu Water District (MCWD) to supply water to some 1,500 households in Barangay Apas, Cebu City.

The company will supply of 2,000 cubic meters of water daily for Barangay Apas.

ABC President and Chief Executive Officer Gabino Abejo, Jr. said in a press conference after the signing ceremony at the MCWD Building that this is their fourth agreement with the water district.

MCWD General Manager Armando Paredes said that the agreement took effect yesterday.

ABC, with its proven track record of supplying reliable water, also supplies water in three other areas through MCWD. These are Talisay City (5,000 cubic meters per day), Consolacion (7,000 cubic meters per day) and Barangay Lahug (2,000 cubic meters per day).

ABC has been doing business since 2003.

Abejo said that they still have pending negotiations with MCWD for another bulk water supply in Barangay Cabangcalan and Rizal St. in Ibabao, Mandaue City, in Pit-os, Talamban and in Barangay Guadalupe, Cebu City.

“We hope that this will be negotiated as soon as possible and hopefully by the end of the year, we can already supply water to these areas,” Abejo said.

Paredes said that the bulk water they purchased from ABC is reasonable and way cheaper compared with other bulk suppliers.

Under the agreement, the 2,000 cubic meters of water daily for Barangay Apas will be injected at any point within MCWD’s existing 400 mm. pipeline from the back gate of Camp Lapulapu to Gaisano Country Mall.

The agreement covers a period of ten years. — THE FREEMAN
