Families of victims in Tuburan road accident get financial aid

-

CEBU, Philippines - The provincial government has released the financial assistance to the families of those who figured in a vehicular accident in Tuburan town last week.

Governor Gwendolyn Garcia, Tuburan Mayor Constancio Suezo III, Tuburan Vice Mayor Rosemarie Suezo, and vice gubernatorial aspirant Glenn Anthony Soco handed the assistance to the families of the victims.

Richard Tapil, a resident of Barangay Portaliza, whose wife died in the accident, received P10,000 from the province. Severino Oros and Emerito Tajanlangit received P5,000 each while Imelda Samson, whose child Jessica Sayson died after the accident, also received P5,000.

Suezo said the municipal government will also provide support to the needs of the victims, especially those admitted to the hospital.

Survivors of the accident were first brought to the Tuburan General Hospital, but were later transferred to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center.

Four people died while four others were injured when a Nissan Frontier truck driven by Anthony Cabintoy, 26, hit them last week. The vehicle bore the plate number GTF-758.

Those injured were identified as Richard Tapil, Gina Antonio, Daisy Mae Tapil, and James Lester Gecain.

Police said Cabintoy just left his mother’s house in Barangay Colonia and was driving back to his house in Barangay Carmelo with his five-year-old son and father-in-law around 7:30 a.m.

Upon reaching Fortaliza, the rear right tire of his truck exploded and Cabintoy lost control of his vehicle and ploughed into some vehicles parked by the roadside.

The truck first hit a motorcycle, then a tricycle and a group of people attending a wake. — Jose P. Sollano/JMO (THE FREEMAN)
