Four hurt in Danao shooting

CEBU, Philippines - Two men got injured after they were shot by unknown assailants yesterday dawn in barangay Guinacot, Danao City while they were reportedly about to buy bread.

The victims were identified as Alvin Cangas, 20 years old, and his cousin Bernardino Roble, 15, both residents of Guinacot.

Cangas and Roble who sustained gunshot wounds on various parts of their bodies received immediate treatment at the Danao District Hospital.

Police initial investigation revealed that the victims were onboard a “trisikad” to buy bread at around 1 a.m. when suddenly a motorcycle overtook them.

The man riding in pillion fired at them twice using a yet undetermined caliber of firearm.

Cangas sustained a gunshot wound on his right chest while Roble was hit in the left cheek.

The attackers sped after carrying out the shooting.

In another shooting incident, but still in Danao City, two minors got injured after unknown assailants fired at them in barangay Poblacion last Thursday evening.

Jason Ytang, 16, resident of barangay Tabuk-Canal sustained gunshot wounds on his left arm, left leg and left hip while Raymond Empormado, 17, resident of barangay Tuburan, was hit in the chin.

Initial investigation disclosed that the victims were walking toward Pine Tree Mall when four men, they said they are not familiar of, tailed them and shot at them several times.

The assailants hurriedly left the place while the victims were rushed to the Danao District Hospital.

Danao Police are still investigating on the said incidents for the possible identification of the perpetrators. – Gabriel C. Bonjoc/MEEV (THE FREEMAN)
