Using recycled plastic water bottles saves energy and generates less greenhouse gas

CEBU, Philippines - According to NAPCOR (The National Association for PET Container Resources) latest report indicates that incorporating recycled PET resin in the manufacture of an item significantly reduces the environmental footprint of that item in terms of production energy required and greenhouse gas emissions. For a single pound of recycled PET flake, the energy use required is reduced by 84 percent consequently the Greenhouse gas emissions lessen by 71 percent.

Recycled PET material is also lighweight without sacrificing the durability of the product and shatter-resistant as well. Using recylcled PET material replaces the use of virgin polyester, which is basically made from oil, as we all know the world’s supply for this commodity is projected to run out at some point over the next five decades or sooner.

Thankfully, we could do our fair share of taking care of the environment by patronizing products that respects our mother earth after all even a few more decades or even centuries after, this will be the same earth that our future family lives in.

Here is the process: 1.) Domestic waste is cleaned and sorted in order to separate the plastic bottles. 2.) Plastic bottles are then crushed into flakes 3.) Flakes are then melted and transformed to produce recycled polyester fibers.
