USJR-CDE ALLEF Award Scholars

CEBU, Philippines - The University of San Jose-Recoletos Dramatics and Cultural Ensemble Alumni (1976-2010) and the USJR Amparito L. Lhuillier Educational Foundation scholars –ALLEF (1994-2010) awarded their outstanding and loyal alumni who succeeded in their careers and practiced their values of commitment and loyalty to the Ensemble. They also paid tribute to their advisers, consultants and benefactors.

The Ensemble evolved from the then CSJR Dramatics Guild founded by the late Fr. Victor Lluch, Oar (1967) to a more expanded group (1976) co-organized by then President Blas Montenegro, OAR and Dr. Mila C. Espina, the latter being the organizer of The Little Theater, CSJR HS in 1964, and director of many cultural and Broadway presentations here and abroad, spanning active global linkages since 1985.

Presently the consultant of USJR community and cultural affairs and a professor of the Graduate School of Arts and Business, Dr. Mila Espina was a former dean of the College of Arts and Sciences from 1973-2000 and is also the CEO/Proprietress of Speechcom International. Dr. Espina celebrated her 46 years of academic and theatric stewardship in USJR and the community, specifically Zonta 1, We Care Foundation, Philippines Foundation, American Chamber, Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Punla Inc., Kapwa Ko, Mahal Ko and tourism projects of the City and Province of Cebu, among other scholarship endeavors for the deserving poor.
