Jennylyn Mercado’s back to ‘active duty’ at GMA 7
The sexy actress-comedienne reportedly felt bad after Erik failed to acknowledge her presence among the crowd, considering she was even seated on the front row. Adding insult to injury was the spoof done on Rufa Mae by Ai Ai de las Alas (one of the guests) who mimicked Rufa Mae’s antics which sent the Big Dome laughing all the way up to the bleachers.
But did she really walk out? “Not at all,” said Mary Ann Sta. Ana of Backroom (Boy Abunda’s talent management company, which handles Rufa’s career). “She just decided to wait at Erik’s dressing a few minutes before the concert ended. She did not walk out.”
But did she feel bad because Erik failed to acknowledge her presence? “I don’t think so. She also didn’t felt bad that Ai Ai spoofed her. Tawa pa nga siya ng tawa. Bakit siya magagalit eh magkasama nga sila ni Ai Ai sa movie,” added Mary Ann.
But we told her that we would get Rufa Mae’s side on the issue today at the presscon of “Pasukob,” the movie that she’s doing for OctoArts Films together with Ai Ai. The film is directed by Wenn Deramas, who also did “Apat Dapat, Dapat Apat” that did very well at the box-office.

Sheree’s boyfriend, singer Gian Magdangal, served as her official photographer at the VIP screening of the “RoXXXanne” held recently at the UP Film Institute.
“He’s my official photographer,” jokingly said the Viva Hot Babe. “He wants to take pictures for this event. He’s such a delight to look at. He’s not a celebrity this time but a photographer.”
Before Sheree accepted the lead role of the actress in this indie film produced by Octobertrain Films, she told her boyfriend the kind of role she’s playing in the movie. And since her boyfriend has been very understanding when it came to the endeavors she has undertaken, her boyfriend readily gave his permission.
“Actually, I need not ask his permission but of out of respect for our relationship, I did. I knew he would understand me. And when we talked, he was confident the movie would turn out well.
“He’s very supportive. It feels good to have a boyfriend like him. He knows this is just part of my job as an actress. And I’m so happy he understands that my going sexy is just part of my role. He doesn’t say anything negative about my sexy image,” added Sheree.
It turns out that “RoXXXanne” is Sheree’s launching film although it was earlier reported that Viva Films is giving her “Scorpio Nights 3” as her launching vehicle but for some reasons, the project didn’t push through.
Sheree is very thankful that “RoXXXanne,” written and directed by Jun Lana, a prolific screenplay writer and a Palanca Hall of Famer, came along. After reading the script, Sheree told herself she should do this role, without qualms or reservations. No second thoughts, it’s a go for Sheree.
How sexy and daring is her role in the movie?
“As far as the eye can see,” said Sheree. “Actually, the story of ‘RoXXXanne’ is about sex videos. It tells how sex videos could destroy or affect the lives of people. Is it okay for us to keep sex videos in our cellphones? But what if the cellphone gets lost? The movie tackles the consequences of keeping a sex video on the phone. I like the premise of the movie and I am proud I accepted the project.”
Didn’t Gian get jealous because of the sexy scenes she did in the film?
“Not really. One time, he even visited me on the set and even saw some of the sexy scenes being shot. Gian assures me that he loves Sheree the person, not the Sheree who’s doing the sexy scenes. He even said that it’s not the image but the person. That’s good enough for me. I don’t believe my going sexy would pose a problem in our relationship,” Sheree explained.

“Fantastic Man: Ang Huling Laban,” topbilling Mark Herras, had its final taping day last October 19. The final episode was shot in Metro East in Taytay, Rizal and among the guest stars were Joyce Jimenez, Cristine Reyes, “Starstruck” avengers Bugz Daigo, Paolo Avelino and Vivo Ouanio.
Two more episodes of “Fantastic Man: Ang Huling Laban” will be aired before the show makes it final bow on November 10. During the final taping day, a happy mood prevailed on the set even if it was the last time the entire cast would be seeing each other.
Mark is happy that his show managed to run for two seasons. Originally, “Fantastic Man: Ang Huling Laban” was only earmarked for a season but since it rated well, it was extended for another season and a Book 2.
Incidentally, the tandem of Mark and Jennylyn Mercado is returning on primetime as GMA 7 brings back the popular loveteam via the suspense drama series “La Vendetta” that also features Sunshine Dizon and Jean Garcia.
Mark doesn’t see any problem working again with Jennylyn. “There is no problem between me and Jen. We’re okay, and same with me and Patrick (Jen’s BF). We do get along fine. It’s just that there were some people who were trying to create an issue among the three of us,” boldly declared the first “Starstruck” Ultimate Male Survivor.
For now, Mark doesn’t want to talk about his lovelife. He admitted though that he goes out once in a while with rumored girlfriend Lian Paz (a member of EB Babes) but Mark doesn’t want to mix love and career.

After the controversy that happened between Becky Aguila, the manager of Jennylyn Mercado, and the Kapuso network, there were lots of speculations as to what would be Jennylyn’s next show on GMA 7. Jennylyn was naturally affected by the controversy between the two camps.
“Angela Markado,” “My Only Love,” and “Patayin sa Sindak si Barbara” were among the possible shows mentioned as being chosen to be Jennylyn’s comeback vehicle on the telebabad block of GMA 7. According to our source, the concept of Angela Markado is still being discussed, while there is no final cast yet for My Only Love, and ABS-CBN, on the other hand, has the rights for Patayin sa Sindak si Barbara.
GMA-7 wants to give importance to the return to active duty of the first StarStruck Ultimate Female Survivor that’s why the network gave her a primetime soap, an original material titled “La Vendetta.” This is written by RJ Nuevas, headwriter of the top-rating series Bakekang and Impostora. Directing “La Vendetta” is Gil Tejada.
“La Vendetta” is the story of three sisters, portrayed by Jennylyn, Sunshine Dizon and Jean Garcia who took over the role originally offered to Sheryl Cruz (who accepted an offer to do a soap on ABS-CBN after her stint in “Mga Mata ni Anghelita”).
The three leading ladies have four leading men namely Polo Ravales, Paolo Contis, Luis Alandy, and Mark Herras in a special role.
“La Vendetta” had its first taping day last October 8 since it’s due to air on October 29. When this soap starts airing, this will bring the total of GMA 7 local soaps to four. Expect another head-on collision among the shows airing on the two leading networks on primetime.
