Organic cosmetic maker prioritizes local market

CEBU, Philippines — The maker of all-organic cosmetics and personal care products, Human Nature Inc., is bent on prioritizing the local market before exerting efforts to expand its export coverage.

 

In his recent visit to Cebu, Human Nature Inc., co-founder and CEO Dylan Wilk said that although the export market is lucrative, the company has to meet the strong demand potential in the Philippines.

Quality-wise, all 250 Human Nature  products are registered with Natural Products Association (NPA) in the United States, in fact it is the only nature-based cosmetics and personal care maker in the world which has the most number of products registered.   While the company, which is a hardcore social enterprise advocate, is hitting to lead the world market in terms of supplying chemical-free personal care products. 

He said the export market is feasible but Filipinos has to access the non-harmful personal care first as those that are imported are not affordable.

 At present though, Human Nature products are available in Middle East, Singapore, Malaysia and United States, usually through Filipinos who are residing or working there.

Human Nature products are purely made of nature-based ingredients using flowers, plants, vegetables, and fruits richly grown in the Philippines, which have good natural ingredients to nourish, beautify human body. These are the Moringa (Malungay), Lemongrass (Tanglad), Sunflower, Citronilla, Tomato, Aloe Vera, Virgin Coconut Oil, Honey, Guava, Carrageenan, Gugo bark, cucumber, mango, calamansi, Avocado, peppermint, sugarcane, melon, banana, among others.

According to Wilk, the company’s long term plan is to make human nature products available in all countries, making Filipino farmers richer. 

Like the British-owned personal care brand, the Body Shop, which is also sourcing mostly its raw materials in poor communities in Africa, Wilk said Human Nature is aiming to make Filipino farmers world-class producers of organic products, uplifting the economic status of the poor farmers around the country.  The strong worldwide demand for organic products will not only provide affordable access to health-friendly body care and wellness goods to Filipinos, but it will significantly give poor farmers’ the opportunity to earn decent living.

  There are 34 branches of Human Nature all over the Philippines, Wilk said the company aims to open more branches around the country.
