CEBU, Philippines - As a major player and world leader in computing innovation, Intel considers 2012 as a growth year for “big” data and predicts that by 2015, 15 billion devices will be connected to the Internet that will lead to tremendous growth in data and a host of new challenges in the information technology (IT) arena.

With its vision to create and extend computing technology to connect and enrich lives, Intel as a company designs and builds essential technologies that serve as the foundation for the world’s computing devices.

In a press statement, the IT player described 2012 as an exciting year for the Asia Pacific region with its technology innovation of possible devices offering an immersive and personal computing experience.

Taking pride as a driving force behind such innovation, Intel made a leap forward for 2012 with the delivery of next generation processors that altered how people utilize and interact with computing technology from interactive signs, smart cars to smartphones, tablets, Ultrabooks and servers.

Also, it continued in helping transform Asia into a global powerhouse through a focus on education, encouraging the adoption of 21st century skills and investing in Asian start-ups and entrepreneurs across the region.

The company’s research showed that the ability to navigate through content using a touch screen makes users feel more empowered and in control, thus assuring consumers with a greater mobile experience.

With the industry collaboration of the company’s engineers and vendors, Intel launched a new 32nm Intel Atom Z2760 processor platform targeted at an array of Windows 8 tablets and convertibles with touch, capable of delivering an always-on, always-connected experience and all-day battery life.

It was also in 2012 that the company had the integration of revolutionary technology to make computing smarter, faster and more secure.

The first processors built on Intel’s innovative 22nm 3-D tri-gate transistors came to market with the launch of the 3rd Gen Intel Core processor family that also paved the way for Ultrabooks and other PC systems to have faster file transfers, super-quick start times, quick connections and greater security.

Furthermore, Asian technology brands such as Acer, Asus, Lenovo and Toshiba continued to play an increasing innovative role and were among the first to launch Ultrabooks and Windows 8 ready tablets.

With over 140 designs in the pipeline and 70 Ultrabook systems with its 3rd Gen Intel Core processors now in market, the company commits itself to continuously build a strong pipeline of Ultrabooks for customers in the years to come.

It also acknowledges the growing demands of consumers for fast, responsive computing experiences with longer battery life that are all packaged in a thin and light design and aims to support such need.

This 2013, approximately 40 different Ultrabooks with touch and running Windows 8 will be introduced to the market. Ten of which are convertible designs featuring the best of a tablet and an Ultrabook.

The company’s planned 4th Gen Intel Core processor family is also expected to reach consumers this year.

With the projection that 15 billion devices will be connected to the Internet by 2015, Intel offers the processing power to extract trends and meaning from their data with the Intel Xeon processors.

To ensure capacity of touch technology for the expected growth and demand for touch-enabled Ultrabook convertible design experiences, Intel announced agreements with several leading touch vendors that included Cando, HannsTouch, TPK and Wintek and partnered with Amazon Web Services to deliver high performance computing services for big data analytics in the cloud.  (FREEMAN)
