Duterte hindi dadalo sa ASEAN-Australia summmit para sa PMA graduation

MANILA, Philippines — Hindi makadadalo si Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte sa ASEAN-Australia Special Summit ngayong Marso, ayon sa Malacañang ngayong Lunes.

Sinabi ni presidential spokesperson Harry Roque na nagkasabay ang ASEAN summit sa commencement exercises ng Philippine Military Alab Tala Class sa Marso 18 at ito ang uunahin ni Duterte.

"He considers this graduation as an opportunity to dialogue with younger military officers particularly on the manner by which the Philippine government and military will deal with the problem of modern day terrorism," paliwanag ng tagapagsalita.

Si Foreign Affairs Secretary Alan Peter Cayetano na lamang ang dadalo sa special summit para kay Duterte, ayon pa sa palasyo.

Sa kabila nito ay sinabi ni Roque na itinuturing ni Duterte ang ASEAN summit na importante pagpupulong.

"The special designation will help ensure that the Philippines continues to be engaged with ASEAN and Australia in advancing shared interest in the region and moving forward common agenda for greater security stability and inclusive and sustainable development in the region," patuloy ni Roque.

Tiniyak noon ni Duterte kay Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull na babantayan ng Pilipinas ang aktibidad ng China sa South China Sea.

Kaalyado ng Australia ang Amerika ngunit hindi naman sila sumali sa freedom of navigation operations ng US Navy sa pinag-aagawang teritoryo.
