CEBU, Philippines — Still enjoying the overwhelming success of their Silver anniversary race, Cebuano sportsman Lou Ornopia now girds for the second leg of their 2024 MS Motosuit Motocross Series scheduled next week.

Billed as the 2nd Mayor Francis Salimbangon Motocross Cup, the adrenaline-pumping race slated on May 18 in Barangay Pio, Tabogon north of Cebu is among the highlights of the town’s annual fiesta celebration in honor of their beloved patron San Isidro Labrador.

“Nalipay og maayo ang atoang mga riders kay nabuhi na og balik ang motocross dinhi sa Sugbo,” said Ornopia, who was once honored as “Sportsman of the Year” by the Sportswriters Association of Cebu (SAC) for his selfless dedication and invaluable contribution to the sport that he hold close to his heart.

Just like in the opening leg that coincided with the 25th edition of the Ornopia Cup in Calambua, San Remigio last month, Ornopia said he will pe putting up cash prizes for all the top performers from the beginners to the expert and pro open categories.

Working in tandem with his brother Siegfred as race director, Ornopia said they will probably stage their third leg sometime in June.

From there, they plan to hold two more legs at most before the year ends. — (FREEMAN)
