MANILA, Philippines — Up to 51 tour guides in Central Luzon received free insurance coverage and tour guide kits during the 51st founding anniversary of the Department of Tourism.

Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia-Frasco personally handed over the tokens of appreciation during a ceremony at the Clark Freeport Zone in Pampanga on Saturday.

Frasco emphasized the role of tour guides as frontline ambassadors of the Philippine tourism industry.

“I know that in our line of work, there are accidents or unexpected events,” Frasco said, noting the importance of a tour guide’s dedication in promoting Philippine tourism and conveying the nation’s stories with passion and commitment.

The event was also part of the agency’s efforts to promote Clark as an alternative gateway for international tourists.
