Blood money ng OFW na nasa death row, sinagot ng gobyerno ng Saudi

MANILA, Philippines – Sinalo ng gobyerno ng Saudi Arabia ang blood money upang maialis ang isang manggagawang Pinoy sa death row, ayon sa migrant workers’ group.

Ayon kay John Monterona ng Migrante-Middle East, inaasahan nilang mapalaya na ang OFW na si Rogelio Lanuza mula sa kanyang kulungan sa Dammam Central Jail, Dammam, Saudi Arabia.

Dagdag ni Monterona na ang gobyerno ng Saudi ang nagbayad ng 2.3 milyon riyals bilang blood money ni Lanuza na aksidenteng nakatapat ng Arabo noong taong 2000.

"We received this good news – the Saudi government shouldered the balance of the amount of blood money after Lanuza's family initially paid the 700,000 Saudi rials, most of which are from the fund raising campaign," ani Monterona.

Samantala, muli naman nanawagan ang grupo sa gobyerno ng Pilipinas na gawin ang lahat upang mailigtas ang anim pang Pinoy na nasa death row. – Dennis Carcamo
