LSGH vs SSC as 6th PSSBC unfolds today

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — The sixth Philippine Secondary Schools Basketball Championships (PSSBC) Dickies Underwear Cup gets going today with La Salle Greenhills clashing with San Sebastian, and San Beda and Mapua taking on separate foes at the SGS Stadium in Quezon City.

The Greenies emerged as the team to beat after foiling the Mapua Red Robins’ back-to-back bid in the NCAA to claim their first crown in the country’s oldest cage league. They hope to live up to the hype with NCAA Finals MVP Joel Cagulangan, Joshua David and Inand Fornilos tipped to lead their charge against the SSC Stags.

“We have exciting matches right on the first day since this is a very short tournament,” said Board chairman Rudy Yu of Dickies Underwear. “We are confident we can help the basketball association find new talents for future international tournaments.”

Aside from Yu, other sponsors of the event are Hapee Toothpaste owner Cecilio Pedro, Blackwater’s Dioceldo Sy, Freego Jeans’ Eduard Tio, Terry Que of Poly Gloss and Rain or Shine, Che Lu Bar and Grill’s Jimmy dela Cruz and MEC Computers’ Leoncio Chua.

Also backing the event are Choi Garden, Davies Paints, Cherrylume Roofing, Sumo GI Sheets, Molten and Masumax Food Supplement.

Chiang Kai Shek College, the 2015 titleholder, and Group B member Letran tangle at 10:45 a.m. before powerhouse San Beda, the 2014 champion, clashes with Manila Patriotic School in Group A.
