MANILA, Philippines — The Court of Tax Appeals on Thursday acquitted Filipino-Tongan PBA player Asi Taulava in his tax evasion case.
The CTA said the prosecution failed to prove Taulava's guilt beyond reasonable doubt.
Taulava's cash bond amounting to P24,000 will also be returned.
The Bureau of Internal Revenue in 2004 accused Taulava of not paying his deficiency income tax and value-added tax.
Taulava is the oldest active player in the PBA and currently playing for the NLEX Road Warriors.
