Griffins eye UCBL No. 4 vs Brahmans
MANILA, Philippines — Colegio de San Lorenzo tries to firm its hold of the solo lead as it tangles with University of Batangas today even as reigning champion Centro Escolar University guns for a third straight win in the Universities and Colleges Basketball League (UCBL) Season 2 at the Olivarez College gym in Sucat, Parañaque.
Coming off an impressive 66-47 romp over the Diliman College side, the CDSL Griffins are shooting for their fourth straight win in their 2 p.m. encounter with the UB Brahmans.
Though the Brahmans are winless in two games, CDSL coach Boni Garcia remains cautious, knowing their rivals have what it takes to pull off a surprise.
“We can’t take any team for granted. You can never tell what can happen since all of the teams are capable of pulling off big surprises,” said Garcia.
Clashing in the 12 noon opener are CEU and Technological Institute of the Philippines with the former also out to sustain their hot streak.
But the Engineers are also fresh off a morale-boosting 90-84 win over Bulacan State University.
“They may have finally gotten their acts together so we must not put our guards down. We know how dangerous TIP is when it gets its usual game going,” said CEU coach Yong Garcia.
