PNP, DOJ remain at UNTV Cup helm

MANILA, Philippines - Philippine National Police and Department of Justice downed their respective rivals to keep their share of lead in the UNTV Cup Executive Face-Off at the Pasig City Sports Center over the weekend.
The PNP Responders drubbed the Senate Sentinels, 85-65, while the DOJ Justice Boosters turned back the Armed Forces of the Philippines Cavaliers, 93-82, to stay unbeaten in the tournament organized by UNTV CEO and president Daniel Razon.
Supt. Anthony Padua hit 18 points while Philip Phillips, Oscar Albayalde, Ireneo Dalogdalog and Alex Sintin combined for 35 points for the PNP Responders, who are bidding to complete a title double in the tournament.
The Justice Boosters, on the other hand, banked heavily on Lipa City Prosecutor Nonilo Tagalicud’s 23 points to scuttle their rivals’ rally.
Meantime, Romulo Paras Jr., Manuel Gerard Tomacruz and Jose Midas Marquez scored in double figures to help power the Judiciary Magis to a 90-59 rout of Bureau of Customs.
