Century Pacific bags Asiamoney award

MANILA, Philippines -  Century Pacific Food Inc. (CNPF), has been awarded by Asiamoney as the country’s Best Managed Company in 2016.

In a disclosure on Friday, CNPF said Asiamoney recognized the company for its “clarity of strategy and adept use of marketing.”

 Asiamoney, which provides news, opinion and data service for people and institutions in the international capital markets, is one of the leading financial publications in Asia Pacific.

“CNPF emphasizes the health advantages of its products, appealing to young consumers that value a recognizable brand and clean living,” Asiamoney said.

“We are honored to be recognized as one of the best managed companies in the country. We remain committed to excellence in our performance, even as we face a more challenging environment this year,” CNPF CFO Oscar Pobre said.

CNPF is engaged in the development, marketing, and distribution of processed fish, meat, dairy, and coconut under its own brands, as well as the brands of others.

It is behind household names Century Tuna, Argentina Corned Beef, 555 Sardines, Angel Milk, and Birch Tree. It maintains market leadership in the canned fish and canned meat segments, while actively growing its presence in canned and powdered milk.

In addition to this, the company is also the Philippines’ leading exporter of private label tuna and coconut products.

In December, the company announced plans to expand further in China through the acquisition of distribution companies in the world’s second largest economy for $2.56 million.

Specifically, CNPF will expand its branded exports business through an equity purchase agreement for a 100 percent interest in the group of entities, which currently distribute the company’s Century Tuna brand in China.

The Century Pacific Group is chaired by Po family patriarch Filipino-Chinese businessman Ricardo Po Sr.
