Celebrating history
A bigger and bolder History Con was held recently at the World Trade Center in Pasay City.
The entertainment convention featured a stellar lineup of guests from History Channel shows, which included Pawn Stars’ Corey Harrison, The Pickers’ Danielle Colby, Ride ‘N Seek’s Jamie Dempsey, Forged in Fire’s Ryu Lim, Counting Cars’ “Horny” Mike Henry, Photo Face-Off’s Justin Mott, The History Hustle’s Simon Yin and Celebrity Car Wars host Phoemela Baranda.
Also at the four-day event were FYI Channel’s signature stars John Weisbarth and Zack Giffin from Tiny House Nation and Adam Liaw from Destination Flavor, Filipino historian Ambeth Ocampo, professional basketball dunker Jordan Kilganon, professional competitive eater Takeru Kobayashi and NASA astronaut Barry “Butch” Wilmore.
History Con also recognized an esteemed group of Filipinos who have “made strong contributions in their fields and made their mark in history.” A “History Maker” in their own right, this laudable league is composed of Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach, 2016 Summer Olympics silver medalist for weight lifting Hidilyn Diaz; actress, model and television host Anne Curtis; acclaimed independent film director Brillante Mendoza; musician, composer and conductor Ryan Cayabyab; outstanding social entrepreneur Illac Diaz; extraordinary mountain climber, scuba dive master, environmentalist, writer and motivational speaker Romi Garduce; the courageous Himalayan Adventure Team ‘Pinas; and eminent astrophysicist Reinabelle Reyes.
Art-inspired celebration
PC&V Communications celebrated two decades in the advertising business and long-standing partnerships with some of the country’s leading consumer brands.
The company’s clients, industry partners and friends enjoyed the party/art exhibit held at Whitespace Manila in Makati City.
PC&V asked some of the country’s most promising young talents to render the ad agency’s most iconic brands into 20 art pieces for every year of its existence. Artworks were then auctioned off.
President and COO Juan Ariel Comia said, “I wanted this gathering to be a celebration not just for us in the agency, but for all those who have made it possible for PC&V to prosper and be stronger than ever through all these years.”
Anya welcomes first guests
A promise of laid-back life is what Anya, Roxaco Land’s new resort and residential landmark located in the heart of Tagaytay, offers. In this paradise, fresh cool air and verdant green pastures abound.
“Anya” is the Sanskrit word for limitless.
The first two phases of the development sold out in just a matter of two and a half years. The first phase was composed of 450-sq.-m. sized lots, which allowed buyers to build their own customized design vacation homes. The second phase consisted of suites, which were offered for investment. Fully furnished and designed by the interior design firm of Manny Samson, the suites are managed by Anya Hospitality Corp., Roxaco Land’s hotel and resort management company, which also operates Club Punta Fuego in Batangas.
Roxaco Land president and CEO Santi Elizalde envisioned Anya to be a homegrown Filipino brand with a service philosophy with no boundaries.
At the owners and investors’ dinner, chef Emmanuel Stroobant gave guests a sampling of the culinary concept and direction envisioned for Anya.
The resort hotel’s suites are now on soft opening and ready to welcome guests to a home in Tagaytay. The launch of Phase 3 will be announced soon.
