TPLEX’s Binalonan-Pozorrubio segment opening set

Ramon Efren Lazaro - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — The 10-kilometer Binalonan to Pozorrubio segment of the Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Toll Expressway (TPLEX) will be opened to public on Dec. 6, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) said over the weekend.

“The additional 10-kilometer road will ease traffic and reduce travel time from Tarlac to Pozorrubio from two and a half hours to 45 minutes,” DPWH Secretary Mark Villar said.

Project concessionaire Private Infra Development Corp. committed to finish the segment in time for the Yuletide season.

The completion of the new segment will make TPLEX a 78.39-kilometer expressway, connecting the provinces of Tarlac and Pangasinan.

The project’s last section – the 10.92 kilometer Pozorrubio, Pangasinan-Rosario, La Union segment – will be completed in June 2019.

“Upon completion, TPLEX will reduce travel time from Tarlac to La Union from three and a half hours to one hour, and will accommodate an average of 20,000 vehicles per day,” Villar said.
