14 Pinoys still missing from sunken SoKor ship
MANILA, Philippines - Fourteen Filipino crewmembers of a South Korean cargo ship that sank off Uruguay last week remain missing, the Department of Foreign Affairs said yesterday.
Foreign Affairs spokesman Charles Jose said two Filipinos had been accounted for but were still on the ship that rescued them.
The crew of the 260,000-ton VLOC Stellar Daisy had 16 Filipinos and eight Koreans on board when it sank last Friday.
Search and rescue operations in the Atlantic Ocean continue, Jose said.
“We are monitoring where the two rescued Filipino seamen will eventually be taken (either to Uruguay or Brazil) and our embassy will be ready to assist them,” he added.
