Taguig records lower dengue cases

MANILA, Philippines -  The recorded cases of dengue in Taguig City have dropped by 77 percent this year as compared to last year, the Taguig City Health Office has reported.

According to the Taguig City Health aoffice, a total of 79 dengue cases from different Disease Reporting Units were recorded and diagnosed for the first half of this year, a drop from the 340 cases reported within the same period last year.

January had the most number of reported dengue cases at 35. The reported cases decresead in  June with only five people diagnosed with the disease.

The Taguig City Health Office however clarified that of the 79 reported cases, only eight cases were confirmed to be dengue while 12 are probable cases and 59 tagged as suspected cases.

Taguig's efforts to control dengue incidents were recognized recently by the Department of Health with the recognition of Barangay Napindan.

Barangay Napindan was recognized by the DOH for its dengue prevention program which helped bring down tbe reported cases of dengue this year by 73 percent from the figure reported last year.

“I am so proud of our health people who have been working hard to help us in instituting reforms and programs in the area of public health. Not only that our constituents in Taguig are getting healthier and disease-free, now we are also being recognized for our efforts,” Taguig Mayor Lani Cayetano said.
