DOLE sets up 24/7 hotline for workers

Mayen Jaymalin - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines – The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)’s hotline service is available around the clock to provide assistance to workers, Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello said on Tuesday.

Workers can call for free the hotline numbers 1800-8888-1349 for domestic and 800-8888-1349 for international.

Bello said 40 DOLE employees are manning the hotline facility on rotating shift.

“They will attend to local and overseas calls from workers inquiring about job opportunities, rights and benefits as well as post-employment issues,” he said.

Bello said complaints on illegal recruitment, child labor, contractualization and violation of labor laws could be reported to the DOLE for appropriate action.

Workers illegally terminated by their employers can seek help from the DOLE through the hotline facility, Bello said.

He said the hotline is equipped with e-recording and e-tracking management systems for call referrals at any time of the day.

Bello said the facility could also generate real time reports during emergencies.

The DOLE set up a hotline in response to President Duterte’s directive to all government agencies to make services more accessible to the public.
