MANILA, Philippines - The Judicial and Bar Council (JBC) is accepting applications for Court of Appeals (CA) associate justice and Sandiganbayan magistrate.

The posts were vacated by Justice Noel Tijam and Justice Samuel Martires, who were recently appointed as associate justices of the Supreme Court.

The JBC has set May 9 as the deadline for the filing of applications and documentary requirements.

Tijam and Martirez were President Duterte’s classmates at the San Beda College of Law.

Tijam replaced Associate Justice Arturo Brion who retired on Dec. 29, while Martirez replaced Associate Justice Jose Perez who retired last Dec. 14.

The JBC also announced the opening of applications for the position of special prosecutor of the Office of the Ombudsman following the retirement last March 11 of special prosecutor Wendell Barreras-Sulit. The deadline for the submission of applications is on April 28.

Applications/recommendations should be submitted to the JBC Secretariat at the Centennial Building of the Supreme Court.
