It was an afternoon of joyful anticipation as Wilcon Depot held the grand opening of its newest branch in Santa Rosa, Laguna. This latest location is the company’s 37th branch in the Philippines.

Wilcon chairman and founder William Belo led the ribbon-cutting ceremony, together with chief operating officer Rosemarie Ong and executive financial audit manager and product director Careen Belo.

William Belo expressed appreciation for the unwavering support that the almost 40-year-old Wilcon Depot has been getting over the years. He also announced that more stores are set to open in Butuan City, Bacolod, Cagayan de Oro, Zamboanga, Tacloban, Iloilo and Cavite.

Special guests during the event included Laguna Rep. Arlene Arcillas and Santa Rosa, Laguna Vice Mayor Arnold Arcillas.

Davao’s thriving tourism sector

Marco Polo Davao’s opulent ballroom was abuzz with excitement over the region’s thriving tourism sector as the Davao Tourism Association (DATA) recently inducted its new officers for 2017.

The ceremony, led by Department of Tourism Region 11 director Roberto Alabado III, inducted Gatchi Gatchalian as the new DATA president. Dottie Würgler-Cronin, Marco Polo Davao’s general manager, was inducted vice president for hotels and resorts, paving the way for Marco Polo Davao to be an active participant in the city’s tourism landscape.

“I am truly honored to be inducted as the vice president for hotels and resorts of this organization,” Würgler-Cronin said. “This will surely give us a broader perspective on the various concerns and programs of Davao City’s tourism landscape, specifically for hotels and resorts. Marco Polo Davao is also very willing to be a staunch tourism partner of Mindanao. We will help by all means to achieve the organizations goals and objectives.”
