SC grants GMA another furlough
MANILA, Philippines - The Supreme Court has granted another furlough to former president and re-electionist Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.
Aside from allowing Arroyo to vote in her hometown in Monday’s elections, the high court justices also decided to grant the plea of the detained former leader to undergo dental procedures for four days at her dentist’s clinic in Makati City.
“Accordingly, petitioner Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo is hereby allowed to undergo the dental procedures at Suite 404, Alexander House, 132 Amorsolo Street, Legaspi Village, Makati City on the four days to be fixed by appointment with her personal dentist, Dr. Ranny F. Reyes, with notice to the Court,” read the SC order promulgated in special session last Tuesday.
The SC, however, set the condition that Arroyo would be allowed to leave the Veterans Memorial Medical Center in Quezon City with escort before 11 a.m. of each of the four days of her dental appointment and that she “shall be returned to the VMMC immediately upon completion of the procedures on each of the four days.”
Earlier this week, the high court granted the request of Arroyo to vote in her hometown in Lubao, Pampanga on Monday.
