Intense rainfall warning up in Metro Manila, 6 provinces

MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) issued an orange rainfall warning advisory for Metro Manila and six provinces in Luzon on Tuesday afternoon.

The orange rainfall advisory means intense downpour (15 to 30 millimeters) has been observed in an hour and is expected to continue in the next two hours.

PAGASA issued the advisory for Metro Manila, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas, Rizal, Laguna and Quezon.

Flooding is threatening in these areas, according to the state weather bureau.

Meanwhile, a yellow rainfall advisory is still effective for the provinces of Zambales, Bulacan, Pampanga, Tarlac and Nueva Ecija.

PAGASA said flooding is possible in the low lying areas of these provinces.

The agency had said a low pressure area (LPA) will continue to dump rains in some parts of the country.

The LPA located in the vicinity of Alabat, Quezon at 10 a.m. will bring light to moderate rains and thunderstorms over Metro Manila, Bicol Region, Southern Luzon, Central Luzon and the provinces Of Pangasinan, Mindoro, Marinduque and Romblon.

"Residents in these areas and local disaster risk reduction management councils concerned are advised to be alert and take all the necessary precautionary measures and monitor updates on the weather disturbance," PAGASA said in earlier advisory.
