Hollywood dance royalties to perform in Manila

MANILA, Philippines — World-champion international Latin dancer, Slavik Kryklyvyy, reunites with his fellow multi-awarded dance partner, Karina Smirnoff, in a one-night only show on March 28 at the Valkyrie in Uptown Bonifacio, Taguig City.

Slavik and Karina, who starred opposite Jennifer Lopez and Richard Gere in the Hollywood blockbuster, “Shall We Dance?,” will perform their signature ballroom moves that earned them many world titles and high ratings, including “second best couple in the world,” behind nine-time World Dance Council champions Bryan Watson and Carmen Vincelj.

The New York-based Slavik won first place in the British Open (Blackpool), and with Karina, dominated some of the world’s ballroom competitions for four years, with awards including five US Latin Ballroom Championships, an Asian Open Championship, and a World Trophy Championship. Besides acting as Lopez’s dance partner and instructor in “Shall We Dance?,” Slavik was the subject of the documentary feature, “Ballroom Dancer.”

Karina, meanwhile, is a five-time US National Champion and was the first woman to make the British Professional finals with three different partners. She is best known for winning the 13th season of “Dancing with the Stars” together with soap opera star JR Martinez. In the show, she was also paired with Mario Lopez, Billy Ray Cyrus, Floyd Mayweather Jr., Aaron Carter and Sean Avery, among others.

Slavik and Karina, who are both of Russian descent, had many dance partners before, but they consider each other their longest and most successful partnership. They now only team up for elite events and shows, so to see them in Manila will truly be an opportunity of a lifetime.

Tickets to the "VIP: Very Important Party Night" show are available at P7,000, P5,000, and P3,000. Tickets worth Php7,000 include private rooms in the second floor, with additional seating in front of the dance floor. Each room is good for eight people and comes with a private powder room.

There will some social dancing, light dinner and an after-party after the performance.
