Cops arrest Cebu’s 4 ‘notorious robbers’

Mae Clydyl L. Avila - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — The police last Friday arrested four alleged notorious robbers who are accused of staging several theft and robbery cases in Cebu City.

The suspects were identified as Condrado Sombal Basmayor of 19 B. Rodriguez Street, Sambag Dos; Josemarito Cabreros Labra of 21 V. Rama Street, Calamba; Kevin Pasquil, 19, of F.Villa Street, T. Padilla; and Jake Lagos, of 18 V. Rama St., Calamba.

The four were arrested in possession of unlicensed firearms during the intensified anti-criminality campaign against notorious snatchers by Cebu City Police Office (CCPO).

Initial investigations revealed that Pasquil and Lagos had victimized a student last Thursday along Osmeña Boulevard.

In the follow-up operation, the police were able to trace the two suspects and their two other cohorts while waiting for another victim.

Evidence confiscated from the suspects were two .38 caliber revolver loaded with ammunition, icepick, and a cellphone worth P9,700.

CCPO spokesman Superintendent Artemio Ricabo said that the suspects would operate in the areas of responsibility of Carbon, Waterfront, Abellana, and Pari-an police stations.

During the conduct of the background investigation, the police found out that the four suspects had a record in Carbon Police Station for theft, robbery, and violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Dangerous Drug Act of 2002 when they were still minors.

As of the moment, the police are still investigating and coordinating with other police units for other reported cases of robbery that the four might have been involved in.

The four suspects are temporarily detained at the Carbon Police Station prior to the filing of appropriate charges for violation of Republic Act 10591 or possession of unlicensed firearms. (FREEMAN)
