Rama praises new MCWD acting GM

Caecent No-ot Magsumbol - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama says he is very proud with the new acting general manager of the Metropolitan Cebu Water District (MCWD) for his moral leadership and integrity.

The mayor was all praises for Atty. Joselito Thomas Baena and could not help but hit those who he said “shamelessly hang on to their post.”

Rama, who was in Manila yesterday, said he was able to listen to the interview of Baena over Sugboanon channel and he was happy with the move he has taken on the ground, going to the barangays to see the situation himself.

“Nindot kayo…I’m very proud to have Jopet ( Baena’s nickname), to be at the helm and to come out,” Rama said.

More than anything, the mayor said, he is happy that Baena has stressed moral integrity and leadership.

“Pinakakaimporte nga phrase nga to provide moral integrity…moral leadership…Mao nay importante diha,” he added.

Rama assured that his administration is ready to provide assistance to Baena.

The mayor also said that he is looking forward that Baena could already work with his five appointees in the MCWD Board led by retired major general Mel Feliciano.

“In due time…Exercising that authority per rule of law…My authority to appoint…Kanang atong lima ka buok,” Rama said.

Even with the Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA) around, Rama said his appointees can work hand-in-hand with them.

“Even if LWUA will be present… They can work hand in hand, parallel with each other… I should know that,” said Rama.

LWUA partially took over MCWD while suspending chairman Joey Daluz alongside two other board members and general manager Edgar Donoso.

“We don’t intent, as an LGU, to rock the boat, but to put in line with Jopet-- moral leadership,” Rama said.

Rama said it’s not good to see others still trying to hang on to their positions.

“Bati kaayo paminawn ba ng dangling, kapit patalim...mauwaw ta ana. Ang utok sa mga tawo, bisan wa silay gikuptan, unya makupot pa gyud…Makasuka! It does not augur well,” Rama said.  FPL (CEBU NEWS)
