MANILA, Philippines — Max’s Group Inc., the listed restaurant chain operator, continues to expand its footprint overseas, making its foray in Winnipeg, Canada.

In a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) yesterday, MGI said it would open the first Max’s Restaurant in Winnipeg, Canada by 2018.

The expansion in Winnipeg, which will be done in partnership with the Alibin Group Inc., will boost MGI’s presence in North America, said MGI president and CEO Robert Trota.

“We welcome the opportunity to once again serve distinct flavors of home to our countrymen based in Canada. We will strive to become part of their growing list of preferred dining destinations through our classic bestsellers,” Trota said.

The agreement with the Alibin Group, a Canadian company, marks the fifth development agreement sealed by MGI for the year.

Trota said the Alibin Group has the necessary knowledge that would enable MGI to tap the Canadian market.

“Our tie-up with Alibin Group will anchor the success of this endeavor. They are equipped with the necessary knowledge and business acumen to foster our shared vision,” Trota said.

The Alibin Group is a privately held Canadian company, comprised of family shareholders and operators and has been in Winnipeg, Manitoba since early 1990’s.

It has distinct experiences in retail business, food services, accounting, finance and private capital market, architectural and information technology.
