MANILA, Philippines – Property Company of Friends Inc. (Pro-Friends) has tapped Globe Telecom Inc. to address the connectivity requirements of its 25-hectare township in Cavite.

Globe said in a statement Pro-Friends has turned to the telco’s information and communications technology arm Globe Business to provide wireline data services for the new township community Downtown Lancaster.

Located within the Lancaster New City in General Trias, Cavite, the township has two major developments: Suntech iPark which covers business process outsourcing (BPO) offices and The Square composed of commercial and retail establishments.

Globe Business is expected to provide secure and fast connectivity for the BPO employees as well as the different commercial and retail establishments in Downtown Lancaster.

“We are very excited for the partnership and we look forward to the different ways Globe Business can help improve our operations,” Karen Parungo, Pro-Friends vice president for commercial and retail development said.

For his part, Globe chief technology and information officer Gil Genio said the enterprise customers should expect to benefit from the telco’s network transformation program to modernize wireline data.

“Customers like Pro-Friends which is expanding to build a BPO hub in Cavite will definitely experience connectivity that at par with first-world countries, as we embark on another infrastructure build that will enhance the Internet experience within homes and businesses,” Genio said.

Globe is investing in an infrastructure program for five years to expand its network coverage to areas with no Internet connection at present.

For this year, the telco has set its capital expenditures at $750 million with the bulk to be used to deploy fiber optic cables in 20,000 barangays all over the country for faster and more reliable Internet access in about two million homes nationwide.
