QBE Group opens new facility in Cebu

MANILA, Philippines - QBE Group Shared Services Centre (GSSC), a division of Australia’s QBE Insurance Group, has opened a new facility in Cebu in line with its aim to grow its business here.

According to, QBE GSSC, the new site would have at least 500 seats.

The opening of the new facility would allow QBE GSSC to grow its existing partnerships with other QBE global divisions and increase its capacity to support business operations.

“QBE GSSC’s site opening in Cebu further reinforces the company’s significant growth and talent development since its establishment in Manila only a year ago,” QBE GSSC executive general manager Karen Batungbacal said.

With the opening of the new facility, QBE GSSC aims to employ an additional 1,000 workers this year to support its operations.

The new facility is offering employment opportunities in entry-level and support roles.

The firm started to recruit potential talent for the new facility in January.

QBE GSSC aims to build its current pool of accountants, finance team leaders, finance operations managers, as well as experienced insurance or business process outsourcing industry professionals.

“Ultimately, we will continue to be a key driver of growth and operational excellence for the entire QBE organization. Our expansion will help us achieve these goals,” Batungbacal said.

QBE Insurance Group is one of the world’s top 20 general insurance and reinsurance companies.

The group, which is headquartered in Sydney, maintains operations in key global insurance markets.

It employs more than 17,000 workers and is present in 43 countries.
