President Rodrigo Duterte led the recent fiesta-themed gala dinner for the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit at the stately Grand Ballroom of Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila in Pasay City. The ASEAN Summit, now in its 50th year, exists to forge long-term friendships between Southeast Asian nations, and to come up with co-operative solutions that leave everyone ahead. True to form, the gala dinner was intrinsically Filipino with a Philippine-themed menu, performers and artists who came from various parts of Luzon and the Visayas with their colorful native wear and the ballroom that had been decorated with Ati-atihan vibes. President Duterte, in his brief but memorable speech, spoke about his hopes for the region’s continued unity, stability and enduring friendships. It was an unforgettable night for the nations in attendance and distinguished guests including SL Agritech Corp. (SLAC) chairman and CEO Henry Lim Bon Liong, who is a very well-respected businessman. Here’s to more years of cooperation and peace among our great nations!
