Deduction. In the absence of any pronouncement from the Land Transportation Regulatory and Regulatory Board, taxi drivers in Metro Cebu are still bound to deduct P10 from the fares they charge their customers. The P10 deduction has been in effect for many months now but there are reports this is not properly observed for many reasons.
Public at the losing end. One reason is convenience. Most passengers know they are entitled to such P10 deduction but often opt not invoking it because they simply find it inconvenient for them. Another reason why this is not properly followed is the absence of a fare matrix inside the cab. Finally, why ever did the LTFRB not order a recalibration of the taxi meters to reflect the P10 rollback? According to an EAR informer, "ang publiko gyud pirmi ang alkanse."
