Fish vendor shot

CEBU, Philippines - A fish vendor was shot after an encounter with a thief in the bushes around his house Sunday evening in Sitio Datag, Barangay Maribago, Lapu-Lapu City.

Initial investigation was conducted by Police Officer Lydo Pinos of Lapu-Lapu City Police Office.

He reported that the victim was identified as Frankie Garciano, 44. While the victim was inside the house around 11:30 p.m., he noticed that somebody was hiding in the bushes.

Out of curiosity, Garciano went near the bushes and suddenly grabbed the suspect, who was about 5'6" in height with dark complexion and believed to be between 22 to 27 years old.

The scene resulted to grappling.

The victim sustained a gunshot wound on his right knee through an unidentified gun from the suspect's possession. The unidentified stranger escaped and ran away from the responding police.

Garciano was immediately brought to the Lapu-Lapu City Distrcit Hospital and was transferred to Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center.  (FREEMAN)
