One more taxi driver stabbed

CEBU, Philippines - A taxi driver is fighting for his life in a hospital after getting stabbed repeatedly by a passenger Sunday dawn in Logarta Street, barangay Subangdaku, Mandaue City.

Efren Ybanez, 34, married, and a resident of Singson Village in Barangay Subangdaku, Mandaue City, was stabbed in many parts of his body.

His assailant was referred to as having dark complexion and sporting a flattop haircut.

PO1 Frevelo Quezon of the Subangdaku police station said the passenger got into the taxi at Sitio San Miguel in Barangay Martirez, Cebu City and asked to be taken to Mandaue City at around 4:55 am.

Upon reaching the place, he asked the driver to stop since he was getting off, and, for no apparent reason, he stabbed him several times and then fled.

Ybanes got off the vehicle to seek help.

PO1 Quezon said Ybanez’s attacker could have been a thrill seeker.

“Trip lang siguro to sa suspect,” Quezon said.  (FREEMAN)
