Asian Orthopedics 2014 now 3-0 in SHAABAA

CEBU, Philippines —  Lucky Ecarma dropped 26 points as the Asian Orthopedics 2014 outgunned Batch 2019, 67-58, to remain undefeated in the Sacred Heart Ateneo Alumni Basketball Athletic Association (SHAABAA) Season 25 at the Magis Eagles Arena of Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) in Barangay Canduman, Mandaue City.

Ecarma, who also pulled down nine rebounds, passed away three assists and picked up three steals, was backed up by Giovannie Laguyo with 18 points, six boards and seven dimes for Asian Orthopedics, which tightened its grip of the solo Division C lead with a perfect 3-0 record.

Mark Dumandan nailed 17 markers while Jonathan Gesalem added 14 points, six rebounds and two assists but to no avail as Batch 2019 slumped to its second straight loss.

In the other Division C match, Adven Jess Diputado sparkled with 29 points, five rebounds and four assists as the Carampatana Food Corp. 2012 escaped past SABR Solutions, Inc. 2018, 92-88.

Maverick Suarez scored 12 while Julius Cadavis posted 10 points and 12 rebounds as Batch 2012 triumphed for the second time in a row.

Eroll Pastor cashed in 24 points, 12 rebounds and four assists while Benedict Andre Chua scattered 22 points, seven rebounds, two assists and four steals but their efforts went down the drain for Batch 2018.

In Division A, Romeo Alejandro unloaded 34 points, 12 rebounds, eight assists and three steals as the Speed Demon 1996 opened its campaign with an 86-64 rout of Batch 2002.

Paulsen Uy also made his presence felt for Batch 1996 with 14 points, eight rebounds and nine assists, in the same way with Giovanni Borromeo who contributed 14 points, seven rebounds and four assists.

Ryan Lauron had 18 points and three rebounds while Edmund Gaisano netted 13 points, four rebounds and two assists for Batch 2002, which suffered its second consecutive setback.

In Division B, Leigh Christian Dixon delivered a monster double-double performance of 21 points and 32 rebounds laced with two assists, two steals and four blocks as the Bad Boys Wingz 2007 kicked off its bid with a thrilling 56-54 victory over the slumping Starkwood Properties 2009.

Joseph Ian Roma came up with 17 points, three rebounds, four assists and three steals but his all-around show proved futile as Batch 2009 stayed winless in three starts. — EBV
