Biasong breezes through quartersin Talisay cagefest

CEBU, Philippines —  Christopher Obeso led five players in double figures with 20 points as Biasong bested Tapul, 109-101, to stay undefeated in the seniors division of the 2019 Talisay City Mayor’s Cup Inter-Barangay Tournament at the Talisay City Sports Complex.

Joel Bensig added 13 points, June Labrica scored 12 while Joeji Bas and Carlo Hernani connived for 21 points for Biasong, which will advance into the crossover quarterfinals as top seed in Bracket C with a clean 3-0 slate.

After a rousing 31-19 start, Biasong grew even hotter to pad its lead to 19 points at halftime, 57-38.

Biasong then overcame an endgame resistance by Tapul to salvage an eight-point victory.

Tangke, on the other hand, pummeled Jaclupan, 108-82, to bolster its quarterfinal chances with an 3-1 record in Bracket B.

Paul Torrecampo paced Tangke with 21 points, while Belmito Daan, Daryhl Fernandez and Enovine Amagos combined for 45 points.

In the juniors division, Allen Tabay and Jeff Diaz each scored 13 as Dumlog slammed Linao, 93-75, to even their mark to 2-2, while Ramel Eleguin and John Lasola fired 30 points apiece as Maghaway took a graceful exit with a 104-79 demolition of Poblacion that snapped out of their four-game jinx. - EBV
