Four games to kick off CESAFI Partner’s Cup
CEBU, Philippines — A heavy quadruple-header will kick off this year’s edition of the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (CESAFI) Partner’s Cup on June 2 at the Cebu Coliseum.
In the opening match set at 12:30 pm, the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-Adc) Magis Eagles will go up against the University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) Baby Panthers, while reigning CESAFI juniors champion University of Cebu (UC) Junior Webmasters will take on their debuting sister-team UCLM at 2 pm.
In collegiate division games, the UC Webmasters will square off against the USPF Panthers at 3:30 pm before the University of San Carlos (USC) Warriors and the Southwestern University (SWU)-Phinma Cobras collide in the main match at 5 pm.
The defending titleholders University of the Visayas (UV) Green Lancers will see action on June 4 yet against the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) Jaguars in an exciting rematch of the CESAFI Finals last season.
The two-month league follows a single round robin format in the juniors level and double round robin in college.
The top four qualifiers will advance to the crossover semifinals, with the top two teams enjoying a twice-to-beat advantage. The winners will clash for the championship in a best-of-three series while the losers will battle for third place in a sudden-death duel. - EBV
