Budlaan bags best Lupon awards

CEBU, Philippines — A mountain barangay in Cebu City bested all the barangays in the country in the recent Lupong Tagapamayapa Incentive Awards (LTIA).

Barangay Budlaan, Cebu City emerged as the national winner and took home a plaque of recognition and a P300,000 cash prize. Budlaan Barangay Captain Nerissa Antolihao had to pass through a more intensified assessment before going into the national competition.

Earlier this year, Budlaan bested Barangay Subangdaku in Mandaue City and Basak, Lapu-Lapu City in the regional contest to represent the Central Visayas in the national level.

Budlaan thrashed Barangay Doongan of Butuan City and Barangay Balibago of Angeles City in the national contest.

In the past two years, Budlaan under the leadership of then barangay captain Gino Antolihao finished second runner up nationwide.

Budlaan is one of the three barangays from the Visayas who made it to the national level competition. The other two barangays are Lawaan in Roxas City and Barangay Cavite in Alang-Alang, Leyte.

Lawaan placed third under the component/independent component cities while Cavite also won third under the 1st to 3rd class municipality category. — (FREEMAN)
