Santa Fe also prohibits karaoke on weekdays

CEBU, Philippines —  The Municipality of Santa Fe in Bantayan Island has joined other local government units in banning videoke and karaoke sessions during weekdays.

An executive order was issued by Santa Fe Mayor Ithamar Espinosa prohibiting all public karaoke and videoke establishments from Monday to Friday.

“There is a need to help and support learners to make their distance learning experience easier amidst the challenges such as poor internet connect and the like,” reads the EO 36 dated October 31, 2020.

Noisy activities such as parties and even those playing with loud music are also prohibited on weekdays.

“Karaoke and videoke sessions are allowed only on Saturdays and Sundays from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Other establishments that do not have a permit or license to operate a karaoke or videoke sessions shall be prohibited to operate 24 hours a day,” the order further read.

The barangays in Santa Fe shall coordinate with the police and Office of the Mayor to report and arrest those who found violating the order.

The municipal government of Santander earlier banned videoke and other form of noises in the town during weekdays to give consideration to students who are under online classes and answering modules and employees who are under work-from-home scheme. — GMR (FREEMAN)
