Santander bans daytime videokes
CEBU, Philippines — The local government unit (LGU) of Santander, Cebu has banned videoke session during office hours on weekdays while under the modified general community quarantine (MGCQ).
Mayor Marites Buscato has issued an executive order “prohibiting the operation of video karaoke machines/units and other audio equipment that create noise, within the Municipality of Santander from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. within the period of modified general community quarantine.”
Under the order, students who would have started their online and modular distance learning sessions at home while some employees who are under a work-from-home scheme were given priority by the government.
The LGU and the municipal police deemed it necessary to give consideration to the students and employees working at home as they go on with their daily tasks.
“The same ordinance prohibits video karaoke machines/units (1) in open spaces, (2) displaying exhibiting or portraying any lewd, pornographic, sexually suggestive or obscene images, among other,” the EO further read.
People may use videoke from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m. and on weekends, provided that their sound should not exceed 90 decibels. — GAN (FREEMAN)
