Firecracker vendors told to secure permits
CEBU, Philippines — Firecracker vendors who wish to sell their products in Cebu City’s firecracker zone are told to acquire the pertinent permits.
Cebu City Councilor David Tumulak, council chairman on disaster risk management, safety and climate change adaptation, said vendors may secure permits from the Philippine National Police’s Firearms and Explosive Office, the Bureau of Fire Protection, and the Cebu City government.
He said the vendors are allowed to sell their products at the South Road Properties (SRP) until December 31, 2019.
Those caught selling outside the SRP will be penalized for violating City Ordinance 2290 and Republic Act 7183, which regulates the sale, manufacture, distribution and use of firecrackers and other pyrotechnic devices.
Also, Tumulak said vendors should only purchase products from authorized distributors or suppliers.
Vendors are not allowed to sell firecrackers without bearing Philippine Product Standard (PPS) marks on the products.
Tumulak said the city will conduct inspections at the firecracker zone to check whether or not the vendors are following the rules and regulations. (FREEMAN)
