CEBU, Philippines — Four people allegedly falsifying public documents were arrested during an entrapment operation in downtown Cebu City yesterday noon.

Police identified the suspects as Felipe Abellanosa, Lito Baay, Adel Capacio, and his son, Adel Jr.

Operatives from the Metro Cebu Highway Patrol Group led by Police Captain Saturnino Sedigo swooped down on the suspects following information that they were the source of falsified documents confiscated in previous operations.

Sedigo said that previous people arrested by them for possession of falsified documents like vehicle Certificate of Registration and Official Receipt tagged them as the source. Police conducted a test-buy to confirm the information and found to be true.

“Karon sa pag-imbestiga nato diri nila gitudlo, kini nga establishment. So atong gibuhat sa atong highway patrol nag-conduct ta og test-buy, buot ipasabot nagpabuhat ta og OR/CR na falsified ug driver’s license, so nigawas na tigbuhatay gyud sila,” Sedigo said.

An entrapment operation was immediately hatched resulting in the arrest of the four suspects. The illegal manufacturing of public documents is considered by the police as alarming because these could be used in government transactions.

“Kini man gu’ng mga falsified documents mao ni pagabuhaton sa mga kawatan og motor, mga sakyanan, nga ilang i-falsified,“ Sedigo said.

He said further investigation would be conducted to determine if the suspects have other cohorts. Police are now preparing criminal complaints for falsification of public documents against the suspects. — FPL (FREEMAN)
