Headless body found in Balamban

CEBU, Philippines — A headless body was found dumped on a roadside in Barangay Matun-og in the midwestern town of Balamban, Cebu Monday morning.

The body was later identified as that of Porfirio Perales, 45, a resident of the village.

His body was found by a resident at around 8 in the morning on May 7.

Perales’ head, on the other hand, was found two hours after, approximately 10 meters from his body.

Perales, a father of five, was last seen in a drinking session last Sunday night, according to a witness who told the police.

But the victim reportedly headed home shortly after the barangay experienced a power outage.

Police Officer 2 Alexander Camoro of the Balamban Police Station said Perales was notorious for picking a fight when he’s drunk.

“Ang iyang kontra napuno na siguro sa iya maong gibirahan,” he said.

“Paingon to siya (Perales) pauli. Ang istorya naa may dugo nakit-an didto, posible guro nga gibunalan tapos giguroy didto daplin sa kalsada,” he added.

He said it would be hard to record or witness the crime because the village plunged into a total blackout.

Camoro said the area where his lifeless body was found was not Perales’ usual route home.

“Istorya pa sa iyang inahan ug iyang igsoon, kadtong higayona di to mao iyang rota. Ato to siya sa pikas bungtod mo agi,” he said.

The police are now digging into the murder of Perales, saying they already have a lead that could solve the crime. (FREEMAN)
