CEBU, Philippines — The Mandaue City Government has set up an outdoor LED screen across the city hall in order to notify its constituents about city-related notices or events.
Mayor Gabriel Luis Quisumbing said that setting up the LED screen is another way of giving information to the city residents.
"We'll be able to push out public notices, weather reports," he added.
As Mandaue is the passing point of motorists from neighboring cities, the city government is experimenting on the LED screen that can come up with traffic-related advisories.
"We're even experimenting now sa atong LED screen for traffic conditions about 2-3 times a day. During the heaviest traffic period, we'll be able to send out how heavy certain condition roads are," Quisumbing shared.
The LED screen, which was purchased by the city government last year, costs around P6 million.
Quisumbing said the city's in-house Information Technology experts are developing an app that can provide synchronized information from the LED screen and from the Command Center.
"We're already sort of testing this but we're fixing our systems because we intend the app to be first and foremost, a quick way to do an emergency calls for ambulance or police," he said.
Quisumbing explained that the app will have a button that once it will be pressed, it will directly inform the Command Center.
"Naa siya murag big, red button. If you launch the app, you press it, mo-speed dial dayon siya sa Command Center," Quisumbing said.
The app will be named "Mandaue City," but this has yet to be finalized and has yet to be made available on mobile phones or computer devices.
With the app, anyone across the world will know what is going on in the city.
The mayor added it is just fitting that the LED screen is placed across the city hall because there are a lot of people in the plaza that would pass by or would only hang out in the area especially on Fridays and Saturdays.
"We wanted to put it up like there for the things like fiesta, we'll be able to put up our schedules para sa nga events" he added. (FREEMAN)
