Undas forecast: Rains in some parts of country

CEBU, Philippines – The Department of Science and Technology – PAGASA said yesterday Eastern Luzon and Eastern Visayas will experience light to moderate rains until Tuesday, November 3, due to strong easterly winds.

The approach of the Tail-end of the Cold Front on Monday, November 2, will also contribute to the rains.

The rest of the country will have warm and humid weather associated with thunderstorms activity in the afternoon or evening.

Fishing vessels and other sea crafts over the seaboards of Southern Luzon and Visayas are alerted against big wave generated by the strong easterly wind with expected wave heights of 3-5 meters. Moderate winds with moderate coastal waters will prevail over the rest of Luzon and Mindanao during the forecast period.

Yesterday, several towns and cities in Metro Cebu experienced light to moderate rains for up to one hour as thunderstorms prevailed over these areas.

Al Quiblat, acting chief of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration-Cebu, said there is no typhoon or tropical storm spotted, so far.

“Wa may bagyo, thunderstorms ra to. Some of effects of thunderstorms includes sudden onset of rains, dugdug, kilat, pag-uwan og ice ug tornado,” Quiblat said.

The areas that experienced rains included Mandaue, Lapulapu, Talisay, Carcar, Naga, Toledo and the towns of Consolacion, Compostela, Cordova, Argao, Sibonga, San Fernando, Minglanilla, Barili, Dumanjug,  Pinamungahan, Aloguinsan, Balamban, Barili and Ronda.

All are advised to take precautionary measures against heavy rains, strong winds, lightning and possible flashfloods and keep monitoring for updates. — (FREEMAN)
