CEBU, Philippines - A man who was visiting a detainee at Pardo Police Station ended up being jailed too on Friday after he was caught handing over a syringe containing Nubain.
Ben Johnson Padica, 23, was placed under arrest after he yielded a syringe containing the regulated drug, which he attempted to give to his friend Elmer John Cabaltera, 21. Cabaltera was arrested for illegal possession of firearms.
Senior Police Officer 4 Rene Baral, desk officer of Pardo Police Station, said that at around 11 p.m. last Friday, Padica suddenly went inside their station and went near the detention cell.
Since the time was already beyond visiting hours, Police Officer 2 Renante Bargayo approached the suspect to supposedly reprimand him.
However, upon approaching, Bargayo reportedly saw Padica handing over the syringe containing liquid substance, prompting the police officer to immediately arrest him.
Baral said Padica admitted that the liquid substance was Nubain and that he was about to give it to Cabaltera, as allegedly instructed by the latter.
Padica now shares the same detention cell with his friend and will be facing charges for possession of illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia. (FREEMAN)
